King's Hawaiian French Bread Breakfast Sandwiches

Recipe Details

1 cup heavy cream

4 large eggs

1 tablespoon honey

2 tablespoons vanilla sugar

1/2 tablespoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

4 KING'S HAWAIIAN Original Hawaiian Sweet Sandwich Buns

5 tablespoons butter

1 dozen eggs

1 cup shredded or crumbled cheese (cheddar, goat, gruyere, or havarti - your preference)

1 tablespoon dijon mustard

3 tablespoons pure maple syrup

Step 1
In medium mixing bowl whisk together the cream, eggs, honey, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
Step 2
Pour the mixture into a baking pan and allow the bread to soak in it for 10 to 20 minutes.
Step 3
Over medium heat, melt about a tablespoon butter in a nonstick pan. Cook the bread 2 slices at a time until slightly puffed and golden brown, a few minutes per side.
Step 4
Repeat until all the bread is done. Set aside.
Step 5
Make scrambled eggs with the cheese. Season to taste.
Step 6
Whisk together the maple syrup with the dijon mustard.
Step 7
Divide the scrambled eggs evenly between the French Toast slices to form sandwiches. Serve with the maple-mustard and forks (they're messy!).


I used King's Hawaiian sandwich buns because they're my favorite and more widely available in my area, but the sliced bread or large round loaf would work just as well. Feel free to add bacon or breakfast sausage for an even heartier meal.
