Poppabear's Steak Sandwich

Recipe Details

1 1.5 to 2 inch Bone-in Ribeye Steak

1 ounce Your favorite steak rub

5 tablespoons Extra virgin olive oil

1 Heirloom Tomato

1 ounce steak sauce

4 slices Sliced Bacon

4 slices provolone cheese

4 large leaves Heart of Romaine Lettuce

4 tablespoons Raw Wildflower or Clover honey

2 KING'S HAWAIIAN Original Hawaiian Sweet Hamburger Buns

1 Onion

2 ounces port or sweet red wine

1 tablespoon dark brown sugar packed

1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

1 tablespoon butter

Step 1
Score the steak lightly with a sharp knife, then rub gently with 2 tbsp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Step 2
Pat the steak down on all sides with your favorite steak rub, then store for 30 minutes to three days in the refrigerator.
Step 3
warm skillet on medium high with 3 tbsp. olive oil in it and add onion, cook until onion begins to brown slightly.
Step 4
Add Balsamic Vinegar, Wine, butter, and brown sugar to the cooking onion. Cook until onion becomes soft.
Step 5
Grill steak: sear each side for two minutes on high heat, then cook to desired doneness on medium heat.
Step 6
Rest the steak for at least 5 minutes before slicing. Slice the steak along the side making two equal sized steaks.
Step 7
Prepare two King's Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet Hamburger Buns, splitting the tomatoes, bacon, lettuce, honey, cheese and steak sauce between the two buns, making two steak sandwiches.

If you store the steak longer than 30 minutes in the refrigerator, it is best to store it in a resealable plastic bag. The longer the rub sits on the steak, the better the flavor of the steak.
