Sweet and Savory Holiday Casserole

Prep: 30 Minutes Cook: 45 Minutes Serves: 6 Submitted by:

1 loaf KING'S HAWAIIAN Original Hawaiian Sweet Round Bread
1 Baked ham, cut into 1 inch cubes
1/2 Onion, roughly chopped
4 stalks Celery, roughly chopped
1 Sweet potato, cubed
1 Large carrot, roughly chopped
1/2 cup Cranberry sauce
1/4 cup Apple cider
2/3 cup Brown sugar
3 cloves Garlic
2 teaspoons honey
1 tablespoon all purpose flour
1/2 cup butter melted
1 teaspoon Dried mustard seed
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1 pinch chili powder
1 pinch Paprika
2 pinches salt
2 pinches pepper

Step 1
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Blend the apple cider, brown sugar, garlic, mustard seed, honey, half of the cranberry sauce (1/4 cup), and half of the butter (1/4 cup) in a food processor.

Step 2
Lightly rub ham with salt and pepper, so glaze sticks better. Spread out ham in a greased baking pan and brush glaze generously onto the meat.

Step 3
Bake at 450 for 15 minutes, mixing with spatula half way through.

Step 4
Take cubed King’s Hawaiian pieces and line another greased pan with the pieces until it is covered. Multiple layers are great if you can fit them.

Step 5
Mix the other halves of the butter and cranberry sauce in a bowl with the flour, milk, and eggs.

Step 6
Pour half of the mixture over the bread. Then add the glazed ham over the bread. And subsequently, the chopped celery, onion, sweet potato, and carrot over the ham. Sprinkle the top of the dish with pinches of salt, pepper, and paprika.

Step 7
Bake at 450 for about 30-35 minutes, depending on your oven, until vegetables begin to brown and edges of bread crisp up. (You can test bread with a knife. Once it starts to give resistance and comes out dry, it’s ready)

Step 8
Cut, serve, and enjoy.
